Liverpool has seen an opening bid for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak turned down, according to reports.
And he put it on the club to make a decision on what comes next.
The report from The Athletic adds that Newcastle has tried to tie Isak down to an improved contract, which would have included a release clause that came into effect in the summer of 2026.
Liverpool signed Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt but could yet add Isak as well.
"My wish is he stays and we see him playing again next year," Newcastle boss Howe said on Tuesday ahead of his side's defeat against a K-League XI in a friendly fixture.
