Liverpool have received a £15 million windfall from selling Tyler Morton to French club Lyon, with the defensive midfielder set to play an important role in the Ligue 1 side's team next campaign.

Morton previously has had loan spells at Blackburn Rovers and Hull City, but what really caught the eye for Lyon was Morton's performances in this summer's European under-21 championship in which England won the title.Lyon offered Morton a five-year contract, signaling their belief in his long-term potential. From Liverpool’s perspective, offloading Morton was an opportunity to free up resources amid a busy transfer window and a loaded midfield, while still retaining a future financial upside via the sell-on clause.
