He is known to want to make the step up to be a regular starter, telling Optus Sport: "I think I’ve said it before as well that like, I feel like I’m a number one and I feel like I’m good enough to play week in, week out."

Despite having just a year left on his deal, some fans reckon Liverpool will be short-changed on a player of Kelleher's talents.

Kelleher could be used as a bargaining chip for the main attraction for Liverpool, says Fidelis Fautor: "Kelleher probably could have been used to reduce the price of Wirtz by sending him to Leverkusen instead of to a PL rival.

I would rather not see him in the Prem because he is far too good a keeper to play against 2 times a season."
