Florian Wirtz of Liverpool(Image: Stu Forster/Getty Images)Bayern Munich chief Uli Hoeneß has opened up on the club missing out on signing Florian Wirtz this summer.
Liverpool signed the Germany international from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth potentially up to £116million.
The Reds will pay an initial fee worth £100million to Leverkusen for Wirtz.
There is the potential for the overall package of the deal to include £16million in add-ons which would take the fee up to £116million.
Wirtz was heavily linked with a move away from Leverkusen for several months before he went on to join Liverpool.
Bayern were interested in signing the 22-year-old, while Manchester City were also mentioned as a potential destination.

More than month on from the deal being completed, Bayern chief Hoeneß has explained how the Bundesliga giants did have an interest in Wirtz and why a move was not likely to happen.
“We’re very satisfied at FC Bayern," Hoeneß told Sport1’s DOPA.
We have a strong team and didn’t need to strengthen it much.
"Of course, we would have liked to have Florian Wirtz, but we’d never have bought him for €150million (£130million).
"We offered €55million (£47.7million) for Nick Woltemade, while Stuttgart wanted €75 million (£65million).
