Between Liverpool's interest in Newcastle United's star striker Alexander Isak, rivalling the same club for the signature of Hugo Ekitike, and question marks over the future of Darwin Nunez, the Reds' front line going into the new season could look very different - and some fans in the Liverpool Echo comments section know which one they would like to see.

Nunez has begun his pre-season training with Liverpool after Napoli ended their interest and signed another forward.



The Reds have opened talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over Ekitike with the expectation they will lodge an offer for the 23-year-old.

Liverpool are ramping up their search for a new striker with both Ekitike and Newcastle United's Isak leading their shortlist.

Ekitike has just enjoyed a strong season in the Bundesliga and caught the eye of top clubs, and he has a reported £86 million release clause.

Reader Pangpang123 says: "As much as I would love to see Isak in, I might well be tempted to see us go with Ekitike + Mateta.

Let’s get Ekitike and move on to strengthen our defence, which has become the weakest link in the squad."

Signing Isak is a massive gamble for user Gdgjkk: "The price tag would be the highest Liverpool has paid for a player, much like Andy Carroll’s signing was.

Liverpool should go for somebody else as a center forward."
