Liverpool will begin their defence of their Premier League crown when they welcome Bournemouth to Anfield on Friday night.

The Reds romped to a second Premier League title in five years last season as they finished 10 points ahead of second-place Arsenal.

And since lifting the trophy at a sold-out Anfield nearly three months ago, they have spent more than £200m in the transfer market on players such as Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike.

But you already knew that, didn't you?

Here, the ECHO looks at some of the news and rumours you might've missed in the last 24 hours.

The Guardian are reporting that Barcelona and Juventus would be interested in signing Marc Guehi if he becomes a free agent next summer.

The 25-year-old is into the final 12 months of his contract at Selhurst Park and has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield.

On Tuesday, the ECHO reported that the Premier League champions had opened talks with Palace over a deal for Guehi.

However, the Guardian claims that Guehi could have offers from Barcelona and Juventus in the New Year if he decides to stay in South London and run his contract down.

If that were to be the case, Guehi would be able to start negotiating terms with overseas clubs from January 1.

Writing on X, Guardian sports reporter Ed Aarons said: "Understand Oliver Glasner would prefer Marc Guehi to stay at Palace for another season and see out his contract.

"Palace want to sell the England defender so they don’t lose him for nothing next year but Guehi prepared to stay in south London if Liverpool don’t meet £40m valuation.

"Guehi is also believed to have interest from Barcelona and Juventus if he is a free agent next summer."

Liverpool will reportedly demand a fee in the region of £20m for Ben Doak this summer, with Leeds United and West Ham linked with a move for the forward.

The 19-year-old has interest from several Premier League clubs after a productive season on loan at Championship out Middlesbrough last season.

Football Insider claim that the Reds won't stand in the way of Doak if any of the interested parties are willing to pay £20m for a player who cost roughly £600,000 when he joined from Celtic three years ago.
