Liverpool beat Everton in the Merseyside Derby on Saturday to continue their perfect start to the Premier League season.

The Reds have not always made life easy for themselves this term, but they have continued to get wins on the board

And Saturday’s game followed a similar story, with a fast start making way for a nervy ending at Anfield.

As they have done all season so far, though, Liverpool got the job done.

They resisted late Everton pressure to come away with a 2-1 win.

A derby win is always sweet for the Liverpool supporters, no matter how many of them arrive.

And this one had an extra cherry on top as the Reds set themselves a new Premier League record.

One thing that you can always expect from this Liverpool team under Arne Slot is that they will almost always score.

That looked in jeopardy last weekend against Burnley, as Mohamed Salah left it very late before getting the Reds off the mark.

But after Salah continued the streak at Turf Moor, Ryan Gravenberch’s opener against Everton set a new all-time record for consecutive matches scored in by Liverpool.

The Reds have now found the net in 39 Premier League games back-to-back, the most in their 33-year history in the competition.

Liverpool will have the chance to extend their own record when they head to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace next Saturday.

Liverpool’s two goals against Everton made them the first Premier League team to reach double figures for goals scored this season.

The Reds topped the table in this regard in 2024/25, and have picked up exactly where they left off.

Hugo Ekitike’s third league strike of the campaign means that he now holds the title of Liverpool’s top Premier League scorer so far this campaign.

Salah and Gravenberch are the only other players to score more than once, with their two goals sitting them in joint second-place in the Liverpool scorers.

After a gentle start to life at Anfield, Alexander Isak will no doubt have his eye on overtaking both of them in the coming weeks.

The goals will no doubt keep on flowing.
