Liverpool have introduced a new identification scheme for supporters in an attempt to make Anfield more secure on a match-day.

The introduction of the initiative, called 'Fan Update', plans to make the club more aware of just who exactly is in the stadium on the day of a game to ensure additional safety for those in and around the ground.

We’d like to thank all supporters for their participation and encourage these Official Members to complete Fan Update as quickly as possible."

Liverpool, it is understood, have moved to make it clear that nothing will be confiscated from supporters who use season tickets of relatives who are no longer able to attend matches at Anfield for whatever reason.

The announcement is the culmination of around a year's worth of feedback from supporters who have contributed to the new system that is set to ensure all memberships are registered to the correct name of the account holder.

The ECHO understands Liverpool are hopeful 'Fan Update' will empower supporters who were previously worried about having their family's ticket revoked to come forward to explain their specific situations.

There will be a process to help Reds fans who currently have more than one official membership or season ticket to clarify who uses them.
