Liverpool have been tipped to match a £50million investment that Manchester United have made in recent times.
Arne Slot’s side had an incredibly busy summer transfer window, breaking the British transfer record twice as they aim to retain their Premier League title.
Alexander Isak completed a deadline-day move to Anfield, following the likes of Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, and Hugo Ekitike.
Now, Liverpool are investing in their youth ranks and have announced a massive redevelopment of their academy facilities.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the Reds are keeping up with Man United, who recently invested £50m into Carrington.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Liverpool’s investment plans make a lot of sense and that to compete for young talent, you have to have the best facilities.
The Merseyside club are hoping to gain planning permission for a new indoor dome, which will enable the academy and first team to train in closer proximity.

Wyness added that this is a good move from Liverpool and will help them remain competitive in the future.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “They’re putting in a whole new full-size pitch, a dome, and all sorts of things.
“They’re also trying to synchronise the training of the first team and the academy teams together, so there’s more integration that way.
It seems a sensible move, but let’s be honest, if you’re going to compete for young talent these days, you’ve got to have top-level facilities, and Melwood needed that sort of investment.
“You’re seeing Man United with £50m spent on Carrington, so it makes sense to keep up with what there is around the world now, and be one of the best facilities because that’s going to be very important in terms of attracting new talent to the place.
“It makes all the sense in the world for them to do that.
It’s good to be competitive and to keep leading the way where possible.”
Meanwhile, Real Madrid could launch a “surprising” move for Mohamed Salah once he approaches the end of his new contract at Liverpool, sources have told Football Insider.

Salah committed his future to Liverpool by signing a two-year deal in April to extend his stay at Anfield until 2027, and will have seen out 10 seasons as one of the Reds’ greatest-ever players when it expires.
When he does decide to leave Liverpool, the Egyptian will have his pick of clubs and has now been linked to the Spanish giants.
Sources say that despite Madrid’s interest in Salah, he is unlikely to make such a move so late in his career.
