One of the biggest weaknesses in this Liverpool squad is certainly in the holding midfield position.
For far too long, Liverpool have solely relied on Fabinho in order to carry the load in the role, and that has now taken its toll.
The Brazilian midfielder struggled for Liverpool during the first half of the season, and his exploits have often been rebuked with harsh criticism with Fabinho falling below par expectations.
But height is not necessarily important in the holding midfield role, and what he lacks in stature, Amrabat makes up for with his tenacity.
It's clear, Liverpool need to add more competition into the midfield, and one player who could be an ideal option is Sofyan Amrabat, who has recently been catching the eye for Morocco at the World Cup.

An excellent and tenacious holding midfielder with a voracity for the ball and the tendency to spread the ball when in possession, Amrabat's national team head coach has lavished a lot of praise for the midfielder in the aftermath of Morocco's stunning victory over Belgium.
Morocco have now put themselves in a strong position to qualify for the next round of the tournament, and if they do Liverpool should keep a close eye on what could be an ideal January signing.
