Liverpool may be well-stocked in the center-back department at the moment, but as Virgil van Dijk's injury highlighted recently, the club may still have a problem when it comes to depth since Jürgen Klopp has a lot of naturally right-sided center-backs, but none who are naturally capable of playing on the left. However, Liverpool cannot afford to make temporary solutions in the long term. Van Dijk is not getting any younger and sooner or later Klopp will have to think about having at least a back-up option for the Dutchman and potentially a future heir as well.
Back in the summer of 2022, Napoli signed Kim Min Jae from Fenerbahçe for $19.5m (£16m/€18m) in a move that has since proved itself as a genius one.
However, instead of going for Kim Min Jae, Liverpool should be smarter and instead look to the club where Napoli picked up the South Korean international and pursue his partner, who is still catching the eye for Fenerbahçe.
Strong and commanding in the air, in many ways he is similar to Kim Min Jae.
Likely available for a similar figure to the one Napoli was able to sign Kim Min Jae from Fenerbahçe for last summer, Szalai would be a much cheaper option and at that kind of price, he wouldn't necessarily put a dent in the club's transfer budget.
