In recent years, the MLS has undergone a significant improvement in terms of player development. Gone are the days of Freddy Adu, when a single talent dominated the headlines; now, year in and year out, more and more Canadian and USMNT internationals are breaking through the ranks. This is the age of Alphonso Davies, and it's a market Liverpool and FSG could dive into in order to bolster Jürgen Klopp's options. Strangely, despite being in charge of for over a decade, the club's North American owners, have however never conducted player purchases from the MLS to date. In fact, the last time Liverpool signed a USMNT player from the MLS was not even in this century but back in 1997, when Brad Friedel moved to from Columbus Crew.
The USYNT U20 international made waves last year when he scored on his MLS debut at just 17 years old, and broke into the first team throughout the course of the 2022 MLS campaign.
It's clear despite having not invested in MLS players just yet, Liverpool does keep an eye on the market.
