Atletico Madrid's interest in Andy Robertson seemingly emerged from nowhere in recent days, with Diego Simeone keen to bolster his backline with the addition of the Scotland captain.
Atletico has targeted several British Isles-born players in recent years, including Kieran Trippier, Conor Gallagher and Matt Doherty, and Robertson could be the latest to join that list.
The 31-year-old has been at Liverpool for eight years but his future is up in the air due to the impending arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.
Bournemouth's acquisition of Truffert paves the way for Kerkez to move to Anfield, and in a podcast appearance on Monday night, Kerkez's dad said that the move to Liverpool was effectively done.
"It's only Liverpool for us and we're not going anywhere else and we won't talk to other clubs
Everything is done between us [personal terms] we just need to sort out some details but it's basically a done deal," Kerkez's dad said.
"[Liverpool sporting director] Richard Hughes brought us to Bournemouth, if he said we go to India, then we go to India, everything is agreed, just some little things."
It was expected that Kostas Tsimikas would leave Liverpool due to Kerkez's arrival, in order to keep the number of left-backs in Arne Slot's squad down to two, but it could end up being Robertson who makes way.
Somewhat surprisingly, it is reported by The Times that Atletico is "looking to pay as little as €5 million ($5.8 million)" for Robertson should matters progress.

That is lower than the £8 million ($11 million) that the Reds paid to sign Robertson in 2017, and while he is now 31 years old, he is a far more accomplished and proven player than he was when the Reds brought him in from Hull eight years ago.
Robertson has just one year remaining on his Liverpool contract, which is also certain to have an impact on the fee that the Reds could command for him, but $5.8 million is simply derisory and should not be entertained, unless Liverpool is absolutely desperate to get Robertson out of the club.
There is no obvious reason why that would be the case, and surely it can only be beneficial to have a player of Robertson's stature around to aid Kerkez with his development.
If Atletico can't stump up more for Robertson, then the response for Liverpool should be simple: no deal.
