The Reds will be defending the Premier League title next term, and have a summer transfer window to build their squad capable of challenging on multiple fronts.
The ECHO reported on Friday that Liverpool have agreed a deal with Bayer Leverkusen for the signing of Florian Wirtz.
The deal is understood to be worth a total of £116million, with a £100million initial fee plus £16million in add-ons.
The arrival of Wirtz would significantly increase the overall market value for the Liverpool squad going into next season.
Transfermarkt value Wirtz at €140million (£119million), which means the Reds have managed to agree a deal that is below the 22-year-old's current market value.

Armin Pecsi has also been signed by the Reds with a market value of €800,000 (£680,000).
Liverpool will also welcome Giorgi Mamardashvili to their squad next season.
The Georgia international is currently valued at €30million (£25.5million) on Transfermarkt.

There will also be some departures from the Liverpool squad compared to last season.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Caoimhin Kelleher have both already left the club, with the duo having a combined market value of €95million (£81million).
Those changes to the Liverpool squad will see the squad's overall market value increase from €867.5million (£737.3million) up to €1.068billion (£908million).
This is before more potential departures from the Liverpool squad are confirmed.
