The hunt for Klopp's replacement appears to be well ahead of schedule, with Slot widely anticipated to take over and Feyenoord expected to receive a compensation fee that could rise to $11.8m if add-ons are activated.

Despite the daunting prospect of Klopp — an iconic figure at Anfield — stepping down for a break from football management, The Daily Mail's Lewis Steele reports that Liverpool players are 'delighted' with the decision to appoint Slot as his successor.
