Liverpool could be beaten to the signing of Moises Caicedo, as they think Brighton have set his asking price too high.
That’s according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who claims that Chelsea are now the only option for Caicedo to complete a January move.
Speaking to The Blues Brothers podcast today, Jacobs gave an update on the midfielder’s situation.
“Time has been running out on this one because Moises Caicedo’s agents only actually officially came in today,” explained the journalist.
“Originally the hope was that they’d come in on January 18th.
And if Caicedo wants the move, which he does, not necessarily only to Chelsea but they’re going to be the only suitor in January because Liverpool don’t think there’s any value in and around £75m.
“So if he wants to go now, Chelsea will be the only option, then we wait and see what the agents can pull out the bag.”
Caicedo still on the market
By the sounds of things, a January move for Caicedo is still very much in play.
To their credit though, it does appear that the Reds still maintain an interest in the Ecuadorian.
As a result, perhaps they don’t expect to see Chelsea sort a deal out for themselves.
If the Blues don’t land Caicedo now, you can expect they’ll be back then too.
