There are a lot of moving parts for Liverpool before the transfer window shuts.

It has been a long summer of transfer activity but it has now got to crunch time, as the Reds prepare to make some important decisions before the window slams shut tomorrow.

Liverpool are still pursuing a deal for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, and after submitting an offer to sign the player yesterday, negotiations continue.

Joe Gomez has been the subject of recent transfer speculation and his future now seems uncertain as deadline day approaches.

AC Milan submitted an official bid to sign the English defender today, but according to Fabrizio Romano, a deal will only happen if the Reds are able to sign Marc Guehi.

That being said, Lewis Steel has revealed Liverpool’s initial stance on any move for Joe Gomez, who has been a brilliant servant to the club across ten years.

Lewis Steels’s post on X reads:

“AC Milan at the table for Joe Gomez but Liverpool’s stance remains hesitant due to his versatility and leadership.”

“If Marc Guehi signs then that would, of course, be reconsidered.”

“A lot of moving parts for LFC with 32 hours to go until the transfer deadline.”

Joe Gomez’s versatility is clear to see, as he has been deployed in every position across the back-line during his time on Merseyside.

A useful tool for Arne Slot, who cannot predict the defensive injuries that may come his way this season and Gomez is a reliable option when fit.

It is rare that he is fit however, as the defender has missed 276 games through injury whilst at Liverpool.

There is a lot to consider for Liverpool given his evident versatility, but the ongoing concerns about just how reliable he can be.

Crucial hours ahead as any potential move hinges on a Guehi arrival.
