Liverpool have not made an offer to sign departing Manchester City attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne this summer.
De Bruyne announced last month he will leave the Etihad outfit when his contract expires at the end of the season having spent a decade with the former Premier League champions.
The player, who will be 34 in June, is expected to be in high demand as a free agent with reports suggesting Liverpool are among those to have approached his representatives with the offer of a deal.
But the ECHO understands that is not the case with the Reds' recruitment team presently training their sights elsewhere to improve a squad that has romped to a 20th championship this season.

De Bruyne has intermittently been linked with a move to Liverpool throughout his career following the emergence of video footage of him as an 11-year-old declaring himself a supporter of the Anfield side.
But Liverpool are mindful of the age of their squad which already contains a number of players in their thirties with contract extensions having recently been agreed with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, who will be 34 and 33 respectively at the start of next season.
Aston Villa have expressed an interest in De Bruyne along with clubs from the United States and the Saudi Pro League
However, De Bruyne is keen to stay in Europe with Serie A leaders Napoli among the front-runners to sign the former Wolfsburg man.
Liverpool are expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer
A new left-back and number nine are a priority with the Reds also considering their options at right-back with Trent Alexander-Arnold having confirmed his imminent exit.
Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is already joining from Valencia while centre-back alternatives are also being assessed.
