The 29-year-old received extensive medical attention inside the Scotland penalty box towards the end of the game before being led away on a stretcher after lengthy treatment.

He posted 'Magyarok', which is Hungarian for 'Hungarians', and a number 19 to his Instagram account along with a picture of his team-mates celebrating after the game with Varga's shirt and a snap of himself in a '19' shirt.

A second statement from the Hungary FA explained that Varga has broken a number of bones.

It read: "Several bones in Barnabas Varga's face were broken during the collision during the match, and he also suffered a concussion.

The whole team is rooting for him!"

During the post-match congratulations over the win, Szoboszlai put on Varga's shirt as he led his team in dedicating the match to the attacker.

Meanwhile, the result meant Andy Robertson's Scotland exited Euro 2024 having picked up just one point across three games.
