Paris Saint-Germain is the champion of Europe for the first time after thrashing Inter Milan in the Champions League final.

Ever since Liverpool exited the competition, the French giant had been tipped by many as the favorite to lift the trophy, and that is exactly what it has done after putting Inter to the sword in Munich.

Achraf Hakimi opened the scoring before Desire Doue netted on either side of half-time, while ex-Liverpool transfer target Khvicha Kvartskhelia and Senny Mayulu also got on the scoresheet in the second half.

Inter may have scored seven goals over two legs in the semi-final against Barcelona, but Simone Inzaghi's side was no match for Luis Enrique's exciting crop of youngsters.

While PSG's assignment in the final came against Italian opposition, the Ligue 1 champion reached the final by beating three Premier League clubs in consecutive rounds.

Prior to knocking Aston Villa and Arsenal out in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively, PSG eliminated Liverpool in the last 16 by winning a penalty shoot-out at Anfield after a 1-1 aggregate draw.

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah recently recalled that defeat, and said how he believed at the time that Liverpool had been beaten by the best team in Europe.
