Fabio Carvalho was thrown on the scrapheap by Jurgen Klopp just two years after signing from Fulham - and the 23-year-old is doing his best to prove his former Liverpool boss wrong.

The Portuguese talent first made his mark at Anfield with a stoppage-time winner that crushed Newcastle's hopes back in 2022.

He's now back scoring important last minute goals for his new side Brentford.

He was a fresh-faced 18-year-old when he netted his maiden Premier League goal for boyhood side Fulham, becoming the third-youngest scorer during the 2020-21 campaign, before bagging 10 Championship strikes the subsequent year as the Cottagers secured immediate promotion as champions.

His finest form has emerged in the Championship, with a loan stint at Hull also impressing observers and securing him a £27.5m switch to Brentford.

The Cottagers made a payment to Balham when Carvalho transferred to Liverpool, with the move landing them in trouble with the Premier League.

Fulham are reported to have "accepted breaches of the Premier League rules in relation to player registrations," according to a Premier League statement released in April 2024.

He managed merely eight minutes of league action after the new year, alongside a single minute against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

His senior stint in Liverpool red amounted to just 640 minutes of football, slightly over half of that in the league, and he wasn't hesitant to express his feelings to then-manager Klopp.

Maybe I should have done that, I should have done that a bit more."

Although he never had the opportunity to demonstrate his skills to Arne Slot, he has seized his Premier League chance.

With Fabio, I've just asked for a little bit of patience, because I truly believe he'll be a big player for his club."
