Liverpool star who Jurgen Klopp loved ‘attracting major interest’ as Anfield exit expected – journalist

Many of Liverpool’s players are being watched closely by other clubs and some might just have to go to make room for more new arrivals.

The Reds have once again been shrewd operators in the transfer market and some of the business they have done has been nothing short of exceptional.

Not only have they bought well but they have sold decently too, with Liverpool raising over £130m already, mostly from ‘fringe’ players who would not have been deemed essential, bar Luis Diaz of course.

They are not finished there, however, and there are still a handful of players linked with an Anfield exit, in particular a few of the younger stars who may see their route to the first team blocked due to the world-class players ahead of them.

There is also one top talent who is wanted by a plethora of clubs, and not for the first time either, with a departure highly likely despite him being held in high regard on Merseyside.

Pre-season has been used as a time for Arne Slot to assess all of his options and work out his best XI, as well as which youngsters he believes are ready to play a major part in their title defence for the upcoming season.

Scotland winger Ben Doak was one player who got a chance to shine and he featured in all the friendlies over the summer, bar the Yokohama Marinos game due to problems with his visa.

However, despite putting in a decent shift and showing some promising signs, everything is still pointing to an exit, with journalist David Lynch exclusively revealing that he is ‘attracting major interest’ this summer.

He reported that West Ham and Wolves are just two teams keen on his signature, with the Reds holding out for more than £20m, which is what they rejected for him in January from both Ipswich and Crystal Palace.

Everton are also interested in Doak, so too are Nottingham Forest, highlighting just how much talent he possesses.

The 19-year-old will also likely be willing to depart this summer, especially as he has seen top talents such as Rio Ngumoha leapfrogging him in the pecking order despite being three years his junior.

The high asking price might put teams off, however, something that has been seen already this summer with other Liverpool stars, suggesting a compromise will need to be made.

When the Scotsman was first signed, there was a real hope that he would be the next ‘big thing’, with Jurgen Klopp a huge fan and even labelled him as “special.”

His pace certainly strikes fear into the opponents’ eyes and his dribbling ability is at a very high level, he is just unfortunate that injuries have harmed his chances at getting minutes.

And now, if Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott do stay, albeit this being very unlikely, that is already two more players who will likely get the call-up before him, three if you include Jeremie Frimpong to this list.

He still has plenty of time to develop, all he needs is first-team football, something he simply will not get on a regular occasion at Anfield, suggesting a move to a West Ham or Wolves might be the best route forward.
