Arsenal defender William Saliba earned plaudits from across the Premier League after being recognised for his standout performances.

Since his breakthrough campaign in 2022, Saliba has been a cornerstone of Mikel Arteta’s side, despite initially joining Arsenal in 2019 and spending time out on loan to develop.

Last season, he maintained that consistency alongside Gabriel, with the pair forming one of the league’s strongest defensive partnerships and conceding fewer goals than any other side.

His impressive form has not gone unnoticed, with Football Insider reporting that Real Madrid continue to monitor the Saliba’s situation as he enters the final two years of his current contract.

Despite speculation surrounding his long-term future, his displays have brought deserved recognition, sparking widespread reaction on social media from fans and fellow professionals alike.

Saliba has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

At the Professional Footballers’ Awards earlier this week, Saliba once again earned recognition for his outstanding displays, securing a place in the PFA Team of the Year for the third consecutive season.

The Arsenal defender marked the occasion on Instagram, writing: “Always a pleasure to be included in the PFA Team of the Year.”

His achievement drew plenty of reaction from across the Premier League.

Liverpool duo Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate liked the post, while his Arsenal teammates also showed their support.

Oleksandr Zinchenko left a comment reading “RR” with a fire emoji, while Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka both added their likes.

Rice and Gabriel were also named in the PFA Team of the Year, reflecting the Gunners’ formidable defensive record last term.

Despite continued speculation over the Frenchman’s future, Football Insider have reported that Arsenal have no intention of letting Saliba leave as he is an integral part of the team.

Arteta’s side are determined to finally end their long wait for a Premier League title after three successive second-place finishes and have made another major move in the transfer market.

Reports have confirmed that Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Eberechi Eze, hijacking Tottenham’s pursuit of the midfielder after he had already agreed terms with their north London rivals.

He was absent from Crystal Palace’s Conference League tie against Fredrikstad, with a medical and paperwork now being lined up to complete the transfer as soon as this weekend.
