Jeremie Frimpong exclaimed that Alexander Isak was "finally here" as he welcomed the Swedish star to Liverpool.

After a protracted transfer saga that dominated the summer, Isak sealed a British-record move for £125million to Liverpool from Newcastle on transfer deadline day.

Frimpong, who signed from Bayer Leverkusen in May, was the first Liverpool player to greet the 25-year-old, as seen in Isak's signing day video, which the club recently released.

Dutch star Frimpong, 24, suffered a hamstring injury in the first week of the new season.

He was performing rehabilitation duties at the club's training base in Kirkby, Merseyside, when Isak arrived for his medical and media tasks, while the rest of the Liverpool squad were on international duty.

Frimpong, looking genuinely thrilled to see Isak, extended his hand to his newest team-mate before letting out his two-word message and giving him a hug.

Like many Liverpool fans, it's safe to say that the club's players were also waiting with bated breath to see if Newcastle's talisman would be granted his dream move to the Premier League champions.

Frimpong's excitement clearly shows that the full-back is anticipating sharing a pitch with the forward, as well as possibly revealing his investment in the biggest transfer saga in decades.

Despite only playing in the Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace, where he scored, and Liverpool's opening night victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League, Frimpong has caused waves of excitement amongst the Anfield faithful.

Taking over the mantle of Trent-Alexander Arnold, while battling Conor Bradley and now-makeshift defender Dominik Szoboszlai, for the right-back berth is no mean feat.

He expressed his delight that his former team-mate at Leverkusen, Florian Wirtz, would also be joining the Reds, claiming their reunion on Merseyside would be "extra fun".

He told ESPN: "I'm really excited.

That makes it extra fun."

Meanwhile, all eyes will be on Isak this weekend as Liverpool face Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon.
