Liverpool have reportedly stepped up to hold initial talks with Real Madrid for Rodrygo.
The Brazilian was a key part of Los Blancos’ Champions League triumphs in 2022 and 2024.
However, after the arrival of French superstar Kylian Mbappe, Rodrygo was repeatedly pushed to the sidelines last season.
Following Xabi Alonso’s appointment as Real Madrid coach back in May, Rodrygo might have expected a more consistent role under the new manager.
But in the FIFA Club World Cup, Alonso also left him out—Rodrygo didn’t feature in five consecutive matches, including their 4-0 semi-final loss to PSG.
However, reports suggest Rodrygo still wants time before deciding on his future.
Arsenal have been interested in him since last month, and sources say the Brazilian is also eyeing a move to the Premier League.
Last week, many sources reported Liverpool also wants him at Anfield.
According to Alex Crook, preliminary talks between Liverpool and Real Madrid took place on Thursday regarding the Brazilian.
