The last and only time Rhian Brewster had previously featured for Liverpool’s first-team was in a 2017 friendly against Sydney FC.

Brewster showed his strength as he battled it out with Tranmere defender Manny Monthe in an overall imperious showing.

Having made his return to fitness, Brewster is now looking to make himself a serious option for Jurgen Klopp in the Reds' upcoming 2019/20 season, and the first step on that road came as he was named in the side to take on Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park on Thursday night.

The Champions League winner soon added to his assist as some confident interplay with veteran midfielder James Milner led to a goalscoring chance for Brewster.

The then 17-year-old played 45 minutes and would have picked up more appearances if it wasn’t for a nasty knee injury which stumped his rise into the senior fold.

Harry Wilson, who looked vibrant on the right, scooped a cross into the six-yard box and Brewster leapt easily to head home Liverpool's second.

It was a standout performance from the Academy fledgling who has not only re-announced himself on the first-team stage but looks to have underlined his claims with that masterful display.
