Liverpool have increased their offer for Bayer Leverksen’s Florian Wirtz.

An initial package worth £109 million was rebuffed by the Bundesliga outfit despite the figure representing a new transfer record outlay in Anfield history.

However the Premier League champions incrementally upped their valuation of the Germany international to £113M with £100M being an upfront payment.

Talks are continuing between both clubs as the Reds seek to strengthen their squad this summer with a successful pursuit of the highly-rated playmaker.

Arne Slot’s side remained determined to secure Wirtz’s signature as a statement of intent for their ambitions heading into the new campaign.

The German player of the year would join his former Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong, who recently sealed a £29.5M switch to Merseyside.
