Liverpool U21s have crashed out of the Premier League 2 play-offs, losing in extra time to Manchester City.

This season, for the second time after it was introduced last year, there are play-offs in the U21s top flight, which form a kind of cup competition.

First place (Manchester City) takes on 16th (Liverpool), second plays 15th and so on.

However, it was Divin Mubama who put his City in front after 19 minutes.

Liverpool star Tommy Pilling made it 1-1 with just over 20 minutes of regular time remaining.

The scores remained level after 90 minutes, meaning extra time was required to separate the teams.
