Giorgi Mamardashvili looks on during the pre-season friendly football match between Preston North End and Liverpool at Deepdale stadium in Preston, north-west England on July 13, 2025.

Giorgi Mamardashvili has sent a message to Liverpool supporters as he shared his pride at making his unofficial debut for the club.

The goalkeeper completed his move to the Reds earlier this summer, after a £29m deal was agreed with Valencia last year.

The 24-year-old has become the first Georgian player in Liverpool’s history, and he made his first appearance for the club in Sunday’s pre-season friendly win over Preston North End.

Starting in goal, the shot-stopper kept a clean sheet in the first half before being replaced by fellow debutant Freddie Woodman, as the Reds ran out 3-1 winners.

Mamardashvili had not yet spoken as a Liverpool player following his move to Anfield, with the tragic death of Diogo Jota understandably preventing any media unveiling at the start of pre-season.

But the Georgian has now taken to social media following his first appearance for the club.

“Hello Reds,” he wrote on Instagram.

making my debut for Liverpool FC.

“I’m proud to be the first Georgian player to represent this legendary club.

“I know what this means for my family and for all the Georgian people.

“Thank you for the support.

This is just the beginning”.

He would finish his post by writing #YNWA and posting a heart emoji.

Meanwhile, fellow debutant Milos Kerkez also took to Instagram after his first appearance for the club.

The Hungarian joined Liverpool in a £40m deal from AFC Bournemouth, and was introduced at half-time in the victory over Preston North End.
