Gary Neville has told Super Sunday, which was brodcast by Sky Sports, that Liverpool owners FSG have acted desperately behind the scenes.

He has also called on Liverpool supporters to be just as angry as Manchester United fans, as their own owners are accused of taking ‘dangerous’ actions in their recent decision making.

Liverpool fans have protested against FSG and called for them to sell up.

However, none of their anger has been as vast as Manchester United’s supporters, after they got their game against Liverpool called off on Sunday.

And Neville said: “Let’s just talk about FSG a little bit. They’ve been part of four things in the last 12 months which are desperate signs.

“They are acting desperately FSG, behind the scenes. The furloughed their players, that is very un-Liverpool like, they tried to cut their players wages behind the scenes.

“They have gone for the project big picture and tried to change the 60/40 ruling in English football. And they have now tried to create a European Super League.

“They are desperate actions of the owners of Liverpool Football Club.

“I think they are struggling at the moment through covid obviously, they’re having economic issues like lots of business are around the world, but they are acting desperately.

“At this moment in time I accept Manchester United fans are more angry with the Glazer family than Liverpool fans are. But Liverpool fans need to see the danger of what FSG are doing because they are acting as desperately behind the scenes.”

FSG have at least tried to communicate with Liverpool supporters after the European Super League drama.

John Henry released a video apology, where he tried to make some amends to supporters.

Liverpool fans are still largely calling for their owners to sell up though, but they may have slightly more credit in the bank than the Glazers do.

For all their recent misgivings, FSG have helped to deliver Liverpool’s first ever Premier League title and have done some good at Anfield.

However, it is hard to see how they ever regain the trust of Liverpool’s match-going supporters, after their decision to join the Super League, which is widely regarded as a highly misguided decision now.
