Liverpool’s summer transfer window has shifted into high gear, with the Premier League champions now closing in on the deals of both Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez.
Wirtz is set to undergo his Liverpool medical on Friday as the final pieces fall into place for his blockbuster £116 million transfer from Bayer Leverkusen.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein confirmed that the 22-year-old German attacking midfielder is expected to arrive in the UK later this week, with current plans pointing toward a Friday medical ahead of completing the move.
Meanwhile, the father of Milos Kerkez appeared to confirm his son’s transfer to Anfield on Monday night:
“It’s only Liverpool for us and we’re not going anywhere else and we won’t talk to other clubs,” Kerkez’s father told Super Indirektno kod Popa i Milana on YouTube.
“Everything is done between us (personal terms) we just need to sort out some details, but it’s basically a done deal.
“We made that decision?
Richard Hughes signed Milos for Bournemouth, and that’s a man who keeps his promises, and if he said to us “we’re going to India, we’ll go to him to India”
And on the outgoing front, there is movement too.
Reliable Dutch journalist Mike Verweij has reported that Liverpool third-keeper Vitezslav Jaros will undergo his medical at Ajax today (Tuesday) to finalise a move to the Dutch giants:
He will reunite with former Anfield assistant coach John Heitinga in Amsterdam, with the Czech goalkeeper joining on a straightforward loan arrangement without a purchase option.
According to Dutch publication De Telegraaf, all parties reached a verbal agreement weeks ago, with only medical formalities and paperwork standing between Jaros and his Ajax debut.
Should the medical be completed successfully today, it will clear the final hurdle for the transfer.
The deal comes with Liverpool planning to upgrade and extend Jaros’s current contract, which runs until mid-2026, before he departs for the Netherlands.
Jaros joined Liverpool from Slavia Prague in August 2017 as a 16-year-old, progressing through the academy ranks and winning the FA Youth Cup in 2019.
His first-team opportunities at Anfield have been limited, making just two senior appearances during the 2024-25 season1012.
The goalkeeper’s Premier League debut came on October 5, 2024, when he was called upon to replace the injured Alisson Becker during Liverpool’s 1-0 victory at Crystal Palace.
His first start followed in the League Cup against Brighton.
