After securing new contracts for Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, Liverpool are preparing for a pivotal summer transfer window.
The immediate priority will be addressing the right-back position following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s confirmed free transfer to Real Madrid.
Whether the Reds opt to bring in direct competition for Conor Bradley or seek a versatile alternative, the need for reinforcement is clear.
Multiple reputable sources, including David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano, report that Frimpong is open to a move to Anfield, and Liverpool are well informed about his £30 million release clause.
We exclusively revealed that Frimpong’s release clause is payable in four instalments, making it a bargain acquisition should the club go down that route.
Frimpong’s attacking prowess and versatility make him an appealing option, though there are ongoing debates about whether he is best suited as a right-back or as a more advanced right-sided player.
Regardless, his profile fits Liverpool’s desire for dynamism and depth on the right flank as they enter a new era under Arne Slot.
The left-back area is also being touted as a position where reinforcements could arrive in the summer, with Milos Kerkez among the frontrunners as things stand.
But another left-back option that the Anfield club hold long-term interest in is Wolves’ Rayan Ait Nouri.
The Telegraph has labelled the Algerian international as someone who has been “frequently scouted by Liverpool”.
Still only 23 years old, the defender has now been around the Premier League for a while and seems primed for a big move.
And it seems the player thinks the same.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Wolves defender has changed agents ahead of a potential transfer away from the Molineux.
Taking to X, the Italian reporter wrote:
“Wolves LB Rayan Ait Nouri has signed with CAA Stellar as his new representative.”
“Algerian LB, one to watch in the summer as he can leave with several clubs keen on signing him after 5 goals, 7 assists this season.”
It is commonplace for players to change agents when they are looking to engineer a move away.
Speaking on the weekend, Wolves boss Victor Pereira confirmed he’s looking to keep the 23-year-old, saying:
“He’s a top player and we want to keep our best players?
The target is to keep our best players and to bring in not too many players because then we would have to start again.”
“He can give us a lot and he can give us even more than he has this season because I believe that next season he can create different solutions, and I will do it with him.”
