High-profile Championship duo Birmingham City and Wrexham are preparing for a transfer tug-of-war over Liverpool youngster Lewis Koumas.
The two clubs head a long list of potential suitors for Koumas, who has become in-demand after a successful spell in the second tier last season when on loan at Stoke City.
Sheffield United have had a strong interest in the player for much of the calendar year while Norwich City, Preston North End and Hull City are also keeping tabs on the situation.
However, Birmingham.
for whom American Football legend Tom Brady is a minority owner, and Wrexham, who were taken over by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in 2020, are leading the chase for Koumas.

And both are thought willing to offer a permanent deal for the 19-year-old, who scored on his senior Liverpool debut in the FA Cup win over Southampton in February last year.
Koumas, on the bench for Liverpool's League Cup final win over Chelsea in 2023/24, has made 50 senior appearances and also earned six full Wales caps.

Liverpool regard the forward as being more advanced in his development than a player such as Bobby Clark was when leaving Anfield for RB Salzburg in a £10million deal last year.
With 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha having emerged from the Academy during the past nine months, first-team opportunities were limited for Koumas during pre-season to a second-half outing at Preston and a brief cameo in the opening friendly against Athletic Bilbao.
Koumas is expected to leave before the transfer deadline and was among those absent from the under-21s for their Premier League 2 loss at Leicester City on Monday.

James McConnell and Kaide Gordon also didn't feature, with both edging closer to a loan exit.
McConnell would prefer a move to the Championship with West Bromwich Albion and Ipswich Town eyeing a move, although Champions League-chasing Sturm Graz of Austria are presently the most interested.
Gordon, meanwhile, is in the sights of Championship duo Swansea City and Derby County, the latter from whom he moved to Liverpool in 2021.
