Liverpool ran riot again as they thumped Southampton 4-0 at Anfield to continue their incredible scoring run.

It’s the second straight game the Reds have scored four, following last weekend’s drubbing of Arsenal by the same scoreline.

Another fine victory for the Premier League’s most potent strike force, who not sit on 39 goals scored this season and have stretched their outstanding 17 consecutive games having scored two or more goals.

And it was another routine victory for Jurgen Klopp’s side, who moved up to second place and within a point of Premier League leaders Chelsea – before the Blues’ clash against Manchester United on Saturday where Reds fans will be hoping their arch rivals will do them a favour in the title race.

Diogo Jota got the goalfest underway with the opener inside two minutes, lunging onto the ball from close-range after a pull-back from Sadio Mane on the left side of the box.

But the Reds rounded off another big win after the break as Van Dijk got a rare goal – the Dutch defender slamming in a volley from a corner.

A first-half rout ended with Thiago Alcantara lashing a shot into the net via a deflection to make it two goals in a week for the Spainard, following his physics-defying wonderstrike in the Champions League against Porto.
