Liverpool will create a permanent memorial to Diogo Jota at Anfield.
Thousands of flowers and tributes have been left outside the stadium after Jota and his brother Andre Silva were killed in a road accident on July 3.
The Premier League champions confirmed the decision to permanently retire the forward’s no.20 shirt across all levels following consultation with his family.
Now, the Reds have detailed further commemorations to Jota including a permanent memorial at Anfield as a focal point for remembrance.
Physical tributes have been gradually removed over the course of the past week and carefully separated ahead of being put into safe storage.
Floral tributes will be composted and used in flower beds across all club sites, including Anfield, the AXA Training Centre and AXA Melwood Training Centre.
A specialist company will then recycle the remaining artefacts left in tribute to the Portugal international to incorpate into the planned sculpture.
Anfield chiefs confirmed that a temporary area of reflection has been created outside the stadium so that people can continue to pay their respects.
The Reds’ shirts and anthem jackets for the upcoming campaign will all feature a specially created ‘Forever 20’ emblem as a further tribute to Jota.
Fans who would like to honour the popular 28-year-old by having ‘Diogo J.
20? printed on shirts will see profits distributed to a new LFC Foundation initiative.
The club’s official charity is committed to creating a grassroots football programme in Jota and Silva’s hometown of Gondomar, where they were laid to rest.
Further commemorations are set to take place at Liverpool’s friendly with Athletic Bilbao as players’ shirts will include a patch with the words ‘Diogo J.
