Dominik Szoboszlai's manager at international level believes the player has the potential to be the best No.6 in the world, despite the Hungarian rarely occupying that position on the field.

Szoboszlai has started the season in good form for Liverpool, impressing with his versatility when playing at right-back in wins against Newcastle and Arsenal.

The 24-year-old was deployed in a deeper midfield role on Saturday as Hungary drew with Ireland in a World Cup qualifier, and he received praise for his performance from Hungary manager Marco Rossi.

Hungary led 2-0 going into the second half, but Evan Ferguson and Adam Idah equalized in the second half — either side of a red card for Hungary's Roland Sallai — to earn the home team a point in Dublin.

“After the sending off, we switched to a 5-3-1, so we could no longer put pressure on the opponent.

“He can play in any position, as he has proven in the Premier League, but we think he can be one of the best in the world in the number six, defensive midfield position.”

Szoboszlai, who assisted Sallai's goal in the first half for Hungary against Ireland, scored a stunning goal for Liverpool prior to the international break as his curling free-kick proved to be the winner in the eagerly-awaited clash against Arsenal.

The former RB Leipzig star has arguably been Liverpool's player of the season so far, and although the season is only three games old, that is no mean feat considering the quality that his teammates possess.

Arne Slot was full of praise for the midfielder off the back of his winner against the Gunners.

"I don’t think he changed at all in the last few games compared to what he did last season," Slot said last weekend

"He has always been a player that, I think, understands what a Liverpool player should look like: if you wear this shirt you should give everything, no matter in what position you play

"As a midfielder he is always the first one to track back, to press high and today I don’t think he did anything wrong
