The high-profile nature of Isak’s situation was evident on Monday, dominating post-match discussions almost as much as Rio Ngumoha’s record-breaking goal.
Eddie Howe claimed he was unaware of reports that a meeting had taken place in the hours before the game.
Meanwhile, Marc Guehi remains a Liverpool target despite speculation linking the Crystal Palace defender with Manchester City.
The Reds’ start to the new season has highlighted the need for reinforcements at centre-back.
Elsewhere, departures are still expected before Monday’s transfer deadline, with AS Roma in talks over a move for Kostas Tsimikas?
Harvey Elliott could also be on the move, while several young players are likely to leave on loan.
Roma have approached Liverpool to sign Kostas Tsimikas on a season-long loan.
The Reds, however, would prefer a permanent move for the Greece international, who has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield following the summer arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.
Tsimikas was not included in the matchday squad for Monday’s game against Newcastle United, as Liverpool look to resolve his future.
Kerkez is now the club’s first-choice left-back, with Andy Robertson as his deputy.
Tsimikas joined Liverpool from Olympiacos in 2020 and extended his contract to 2027 in 2023.
He has made 115 appearances with 18 assists, mainly serving as backup to Robertson, with Kerkez’s arrival further limiting his game time.
According to Giannis Chorianopoulos, there is a significant gap between Liverpool’s desire for a permanent transfer and Roma’s proposal of a loan with an option-to-buy clause.
He is keen on joining Roma
Other clubs have also contacted Liverpool recently regarding Tsimikas.
