Liverpool are closing in on a deal for Hungary under-21 international Armin Pecsi as they continue an overhaul of their goalkeeping options.

The Reds have been in talks with Pecsi's club Puskas Akademia FC over a fee that could reach £1.5milion - a club record fee for the Hungarian top-flight team.

Pecsi has been a regular for Puskas Akademia this season and made 36 appearances in all competitions as they finished second in the table behind Robbie Keane's Ferencvaros.

The 20-year-old featured in the early rounds of the Conference League in which Puskas Akademia were eliminated in the final qualifying round by eventual semi-finalists Fiorentina.

Pecsi, who was born in Austria, made his U21 debut for Hungary last year and has thus far made five appearances in the age group for his country having featured at U19 and U17 level.

The youngster will be available to play for Liverpool's U21 team with his development expected to be accelerated by regularly training with the first-team goalkeeping unit.

Liverpool are already welcoming one new keeper this summer in Giorgi Mamardashvili after a £29million deal was agreed with Valencia last year.

The Georgia international will provide competition to first-choice Alisson Becker after long-time deputy Caoimhin Kelleher joined Brentford earlier this week in a deal that could net the Reds £18m.

A decision will be taken on Czechia international Vitezslav Jaros, who featured twice for the first team this season.

The 21-year-old has a year remaining on his current Liverpool deal and could pen a new contract before a possible loan move.

And Liverpool are expected to soon confirm a new contract for Harvey Davies, the 21-year-old goalkeeper who has been on the first-team bench 18 times, the last of which was in the Champions League defeat at PSV Eindhoven in January.
