Alexander Isak remains the main topic of conversation in these final weeks of the transfer window, and the conditions for a sale remain unchanged, despite last night's bombshell statement.

According to Sky Sports News, Brentford's Yoane Wissa is still the Magpies' top target to replace Callum Wilson, but if Newcastle manage to get Wissa in the door and Liverpool table a much-improved bid for Isak before the deadline, Newcastle will have a decision to make.

Failing to land Wissa categorically rules out Isak is leaving as Newcastle would be left without a central striker.

The report adds that if Newcastle manage to find a top-level replacement from somewhere, and they land Wissa, then Isak would be allowed to go if Liverpool up their offer.

It would likely take an additional £25m on top of the £110m previously offered by the Reds.

No deal will be happening until they have at least one replacement through the door.
