The striker merry-go-round
The final two weeks of the transfer window will no doubt be dominated by Alexander Isak, as Liverpool retain strong interest in the Sweden international.
However, it has been widely reported that the Reds’ pursuit of the striker hinges on Newcastle securing suitable replacements, with as many as two forwards needed through the door for the Magpies to consider a sale, if reports are to be believed.
One of those could be Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, who has been heavily linked with a move to St James’ Park this summer and, like Isak, has been doing what he can to push through a transfer.
However, Brentford sanctioning a sale also depends on them finding a replacement, and one of their former players has emerged as a potential candidate to come in.
According to French outlet Le10sport, Marseille’s Neal Maupay is of interest to those at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The article claims Brentford have entered the race and contacted their Ligue 1 counterparts to discuss the terms of a transfer, although a formal bid is yet to be made.
