Bayern Munich has reportedly made a concrete approach to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool, as speculation surrounding the forward's Reds future refuses to go away.

Diaz is coming off the back of his best season as a Liverpool player but has been linked with a number of clubs in recent weeks, with Bayern among them.

The Saudi Pro League has been mentioned as a possible destination for Diaz, as has Barcelona, and the latest claim, which comes from German outlet Bild, is that Bayern has firmed up its interest in the winger.

It is claimed that "specific figures" have been discussed and that Bayern is getting serious about signing Diaz.

Bayern's interest in Diaz has intensified as a result of Nico Williams making it clear that he wants to join Barcelona, while another target, Jamie Gittens, is joining Chelsea.

The Bavarian club is in the market for a new winger following the departure of Leroy Sane, who joined Galatasaray on a free transfer last month.

Marcus Rashford is mentioned as an alternative target to Diaz, with the England international expected to leave Manchester United this summer.

Liverpool would rather keep hold of Diaz but there is said to be little expectation that he will sign an extension to his current contract at Anfield, which is due to expire in 2027.

Liverpool has reportedly attempted to address Diaz's contract situation but little progress has been made, and rather than sell him this summer, the club would prefer to maximize his performance value over the next two years and allow him to leave for nothing following the 2026-27 season.

Diaz is currently on the same terms that he agreed when he signed for Liverpool in January 2022

But he was an important player for Arne Slot's team this season and Sky Sports claimed earlier this year that Liverpool was set to offer a deal that reflected his status.

Diaz is underpaid relative to his status in the Liverpool squad

A new deal, though, doesn't appear to be in the offing, and unless something changes in the next couple of years, Diaz is on course to leave for nothing in two years' time, when he will be 30 years old.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest has reportedly agreed a fee with Lyon for winger Malick Fofana, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool.

Lyon's financial difficulties, which led to them being demoted to Ligue 2 last month, mean that they are being forced to sell their best players, with Rayan Cherki having already moved on, to Manchester City.

However, while Forest has agreed a deal with Lyon to sign exciting young winger Fofana, there is no agreement between Forest and the player as yet, with suggestions he is holding out for a move to a Champions League club.
