Jarrel Quansah’s Bayer Leverkusen medical is reportedly scheduled for Monday morning as the Liverpool defender’s exit draws closer.

Liverpool.com reported last week that a deal was expected to be concluded between the clubs, and Fabrizio Romano provided a fresh update on Saturday where he revealed the player will travel to Germany following England’s Euro-21 final.

The social media figure wrote on X: “Jarell Quansah set to undergo his medical at Bayer Leverkusen on Monday, all booked.

“Can confirm again buy back clause for Liverpool will be worth at least £60m and could even reach £70m based on add-ons.

An initial fee of £30M ($41M) represents a club-record fee for Leverkusen in the summer where it has lost manager Xabi Alonso and key figures Jeremie Frimpong, Jonathan Tah and Florian Wirtz.

Under the management of Erik ten Hag, Leverkusen has already signed Mark Flekken and Ibrahim Maza and more arrivals are expected.

As for Quansah, he fell to fourth choice at the heart of defence under Arne Slot this season and started just four Premier League games.

Marc Guehi has been lined up as his replacement, with the Mirror claiming Liverpool is “closing in” on the Crystal Palace center-back, with talks due to take place across Saturday and Sunday.

Liverpool is said to be in “prime position”, although a few “final hurdles” remain, such as the player’s £40M ($55M) price tage.

Should the Reds bring in another defender, it could leave just one hole left to fill in the side: a new striker.
