For now, not much has changed, though Newcastle has since seen another bid rejected for Brentford striker Yoane Wissa.

Even if he can push through a move to St James' Park, it seems unlikely that Newcastle would then be open to entertaining bids for Isak.

"The right way to do it is, you put in a transfer request or you have a chat with the manager and say, look, I want to play my football somewhere else, whatever, and the manager will then sit down and have a chat with you," Ally McCoist said on talkSPORT.

"The way he went about it, you could clearly say he had a problem with Newcastle or a problem with somebody at Newcastle.
