Liverpool are now less than a week away from starting pre-season and have already made six signings during this summer transfer window.

He is an option the Reds could pursue if they receive any encouragement later this summer.

They would not baulk at the player's prospective wages and would have no issues improving the sort of offer that would make him Newcastle's highest earner.
