Serie A side Roma is in talks with Liverpool regarding a possible move for Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas.

Tsimikas played regularly in pre-season, often deployed as an auxiliary center-back, but has not been named in the matchday squad in each of the first two games of the new campaign.

Reports from Italy on Saturday suggested Roma sees Tsimikas as a possible deputy for Angelino, with the club approaching Liverpool to discuss a possible loan.

However, Liverpool.com understands the Reds’ preference would be a permanent sale for the 29-year-old.

Tsimikas has played 115 times for Liverpool in five years at the club

“It's very difficult to reach such a level, to play in 27 games in a season with a Liverpool shirt

If you think about it, not all players play 50 games; some play 50, others 10, others play five.”

But the arrival of Kerkez has changed the complexion at left-back and throughout the window there has always been a sense one of Robertson or Tsimikas would depart.

It looks set to be the latter, who has established himself as a firm fan favorite during his time at Liverpool and earned himself the nickname “the Greek scouser”.

The former Olympiacos man picked up a Premier League winner’s medal last season to go alongside one from the FA Cup and two in the Carabao Cup.
