Liverpool boss Arne Slot has admitted it will be difficult to upgrade his squad this summer
Liverpool boss Arne Slot has warned that it will be tough to strengthen his squad this summer, admitting "there are not many players that can strengthen us" after their incredible title-winning season.
The Reds cruised to the Premier League crown in Slot's first season, with the team 12 points clear of nearest rivals Arsenal.
The team will be hoping to build on their success under the Dutchman and the upcoming transfer window will be critical to them keeping up with the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal.
Liverpool only made one major signing last year as Federico Chiesa arrived for around £10m from Juventus but the squad's quality still shone throughout as the likes of Mohamed Salah carried the team to glory.
This summer Liverpool will certainly need to bolster their ranks with Salah and Van Dijk some of the players who will need replacing in the near future - though Slot has insisted that upgrading their current options is no easy task.
"City will probably strengthen the squad again," he told the BBC ahead of their final game of the season against Crystal Palace.
"If the rumours are correct, Arsenal is planning the same, so it would be stupid if we are not looking at trying to strengthen the squad as well.

"Again, I've said it many times, it's not that easy because this team has already won the league.

"So to find players that can strengthen us - that might not be that difficult - because there are certain players in the world where I think, 'if they would come, it would be nice'.
"But they're also playing at clubs where they don't want to leave.
So there are not many that can strengthen us, but the few that are out there, we will try to get them.
At this moment of time we're not sure if that's possible."
Slot is eager to build on Liverpool's title triumph but wants to find the right players for his group
Liverpool have been linked with the likes of Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez and Bayer Levekusen playmaker Florian Wirtz.
Meanwhile, Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong is set to arrive at Anfield as a replacement for the outgoing Trent Alexander-Arnold after the club activated his £30million release clause.
The former Man City star completed a medical at Liverpool's training ground on Monday and will battle Conor Bradley for the club's no 1 right-back spot next season.
Alexander-Arnold is expected to join Real Madrid when he formally leaves Liverpool on a free transfer next month.
