Former Tottenham Hotspur star Chris Waddle has encouraged Spurs to take a chance on signing Darwin Nunez this summer.
The Liverpool striker is expected to leave the Reds before the start of the new season, ending what has been an underwhelming three-year stint at Anfield for a player who was, up until last week, the club’s record signing.
He ended this season as third choice striker behind Luis Diaz (a natural winger) and Diogo Jota.
Despite significant interest from Saudi Arabia, recent reports have indicated that a move to Napoli looks more likely for the ex-Benfica man.
While no links have emerged between Nunez and any Premier League clubs, Waddle, who made 167 appearances for Tottenham during his illustrious playing career, has said Nunez could reinvent himself in the capital, adding the 25-year-old is “worth the risk”.
