Liverpool vs Ajax - Champions League

- Kick-off is at 8pm

- Liverpool team news expected at around 6.40pm

- Ajax team news expected at nearer 7pm

Premier League champions Liverpool host Dutch title-holders Ajax in their fifth Champions League group stage match at Anfield tonight (8pm kick-off) knowing they can book their spot in the last 16 of the competition.

The Reds slipped up on match-day four with a shock 2-0 loss to Atalanta and will be keen to bounce back this evening to prevent heading into the last match needing a result.

Liverpool just need one win from their final two group games and Jurgen Klopp said ahead of the match: "Of course, it is a wonderful club - one of the stellar names of European football - but in this moment it is clear they have outstanding leadership of the organisation and Erik [ten Hag] is a big part of that.

"They have had to adapt in recent seasons after losing a few players to rival clubs. I remember from my own experience at Dortmund how that feels and what a challenge it is.

"How they deal with it is exceptional. The foundations of the team remain solid and they have recruited well. They have a clear identity. I love watching them, I have to say.

"I think they are as dangerous an opponent as you can get at this stage of the competition. It is no surprise that this group is so tight and will probably go to the final round to be decided.

"The game we played in Amsterdam was a proper battle. We showed fight and determination to get the result - but it was a really good game, played between two committed sets of players.

"My expectation would be something very similar tonight. They will come with the highest motivation and desire. They will come well-drilled and with a plan.

"We must be ready for the game to go the entire 90 minutes and stoppage time."

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson declared: "We'll go out there and we'll give it our all, give 100 per cent.

"It's been another quick turnaround but we'll be raring to go come 8pm on Tuesday night and hopefully we can get it done and be in the last 16 with a game to spare, which we've not done since I've been here and it's always been down to the last game.

"So it would be nice to change that and hopefully be comfortably into the last 16."
