However, Arsenal have made a perfect start to the current campaign with two wins from two.
The Gunners followed up their win at Manchester United by beating Leeds at the weekend.
Meanwhile, Liverpool got the new season underway against Bournemouth at Anfield, winning 4-2 home before a thrilling late victory over Newcastle.
Both sides will be looking to maintain their impressive starts to the season and gain an upper hand in the title race.

However, Arteta and his dugout rival Arne Slot are both set to be handed selection headaches at Anfield.
Jeremie Frimpong remains absent for the champions as he recovers from a hamstring injury.
The summer signing has been ruled out until after the international break.
Conor Bradley could return to action, though, having come on as a substitute against the Magpies.

New arrivals Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike all started both their opening matches.
However, Slot is hoping to find the right balance after watching his side concede twice against Bournemouth and Newcastle.
talkSPORT hosts Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist were particularly hard on the Reds for their defensive woes.
“They cannot win the league defending like that," said Stelling.
"[Ibrahima] Konate had another nightmarish game.
The second, it’s just an old-fashioned long ball that they don’t deal with.”

Arteta was handed a double injury blow against Leeds last weekend.
Despite seeing his side win 5-0, captain Martin Odegaard and star man Bukayo Saka were both forced off during the match.
Odegaard left the Emirates Stadium with his shoulder in a sling and remains a doubt for this match.
Meanwhile, Saka has been ruled out for four weeks with a hamstring injury.

The England international will also miss the Three Lions' upcoming matches against Andorra and Serbia.
Their absences add to a growing list of injuries for the Gunners boss to contend with.
Kai Havertz missed the win over Leeds due to a knee injury, with Viktor Gyokeres continuing in attack.
The Swedish striker scored twice against the newly-promoted outfit as he opened his account for Arsenal.
Ben White and Christian Norgaard could return to fitness in time for the trip to Anfield, though.
Gabriel Jesus remains absent with an ACL injury but Eberechi Eze is in line to make his debut for the club.
The midfielder was unveiled prior to kick-off against Leeds after completing a move from Crystal Palace.
