Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid build-up LIVE: Team news, Alexander Isak debut, TV details

Although Liverpool has made a perfect start to its Premier League title defense, Slot could eye up some changes to his side today, one of them being Alexander Isak.

The deadline day signing is expected to make his debut against Atletico, and Liverpool's boss has hinted that he could even start at Anfield.

If he does, he'll be hoping he fares better than former Red Trent Alexander-Arnold, who last just four minutes before being forced off injured in Real Madrid's win over Marseille, putting his return to Liverpool in November in serious doubt.

Half-time in the UEFA Youth League

We've reached half-time in the UEFA Youth League clash in Kirkby and it's goalless.

It's still 0-0 but Will Wright was stretched off with an injury after just a few minutes, so hopefully that is not too bad for the former Salford City forward.

KEY EVENT

Trent Alexander-Arnold facing 2 months out

Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to miss up to two months after picking up an injury with Real Madrid - putting his return to Anfield in November in major doubt.

The right-back was withdrawn just four minutes into his Champions League debut for his new club yesterday, and it's now been confirmed by Real that he has suffered a hamstring injury.

He now looks set to miss some big games, including the first El Clasico of the season against Barcelona on October 26, while the trip to Liverpool in the Champions League on November 4 is in serious doubt.

Alvarez agent addresses Liverpool speculation

Julian Alvarez's agent has confirmed that Liverpool did not make a move to sign the Atletico Madrid star during the transfer window.

Clarifying the situation amid recent rumors, Fernando Hidalgo told Erem News:

There were no official offers from Liverpool to sign Julian last season, and everything that has been said in this regard is false.

Last summer, there were no offers because Atletico de Madrid didn't want to sell the player, so negotiations didn't take place.

Atletico Madrid injury news

Atletico Madrid has five players missing, with Julian Alvarez perhaps the most notable absentee from Diego Simeone's squad after picking up an injury against Villarreal at the weekend.

Jose Maria Gimenez, Johnny Cardoso, Thiago Almada and Alex Baena have also been left out of Atletico's traveling squad.

Liverpool injury news

Liverpool has just the one player out injured for today's game, with Curtis Jones missing out once again.

The midfielder is hoped to return to training before Saturday's Merseyside derby though, with Arne Slot suggesting he could return to the squad to face Everton.

Alexis Mac Allister looks as though he will be okay to feature against Atletico later, despite the concerns over a potential injury after he was brought off at half-time against Burnley.

The Argentine eased those fears after taking part in training on Tuesday, but we will wait and see what sort of part he'll play tonight.

Trent's CL debut lasts just 4 minutes

Trent Alexander-Arnold's Champions League debut for Real Madrid could not have gone much worse, with the former Liverpool star forced off injured after just four minutes.

The right-back was given the nod by Xabi Alonso to start ahead of Dani Carvajal as the Spanish giant began its European campaign against French side Marseille.

He would last just a matter of minutes though before pulling up with what appeared to be a hamstring injury, and being forced off in just the fourth minute of the game.

The injury puts serious doubt over whether he will make a return to Anfield with Real later this year.

The 15-time European champions are due to travel to Liverpool for a league phase game in the Champions League on November 4, although there will be concerns now over whether Alexander-Arnold will be part of their traveling squad.

Arne Slot has hinted Alexander Isak could start for Liverpool today against Atletico Madrid.

The deadline day signing is expected to make his debut later at Anfield, with the Reds boss not ruling out the possibility of it coming from the start:

Asked whether Isak could start during his press conference on Tuesday, Slot replied:

The only thing that is sure is that he will not play 90, and all the rest we will see tomorrow.
